Flow Monitoring

"Total Flow Inc. has developed a strong reputation for quality flow monitoring. The reason is simple: an innovative four-step process."

Task 1 - Pre Monitoring Inspection

Any good flow monitoring project beings with a quality inspection. TFI starts with an inspection for hydraulic suitability, taking photos, videos, and measurements of each potential site. If an initial location is determined to be unsuitable for accurate and reliable flow metering,  Our company will suggest alternate locations and/or alternative equipment.

Task 2 - Flow Monitoring

In accordance with the TFI Health and Safety and Confined Space Plan, flow monitors will be placed in approved manholes. TFI furnishes, installs, verifies each manhole cover with an appropriate seal. TFI has experience with many types of flow metering vendors. ADS (Flow Shark), Isco’s AV and Lasers meters, Optimum, CSL and the Hach Data Delivery System (DDS).  All instruments are factory certified and include local tech support.

Task 3 - Continued Maintenance

Each flow monitor sends downloadable information which is then reviewed per-client needs.

Calibration and maintenance will be performed as needed and  Flow monitors can be replaced/relocated in the event of a malfunction. TFI maintains extensive records and documentation for all stages of this continued monitoring.

The weekly downloads from each flow meter are then used in TFI’s  QC & QA program. TFI staff plot and analyze the data, noting trends or possible abnormalities. This information is then relayed to the project manager, who makes appropriate adjustments in the field. data drifting, and odd anomalies. Of course, before any field changes are made, TFI will seek confirmation from clients.

As a cost-saving alternative, TFI is pleased to offer biannual or annual maintenance that will be available for this project. TFI and team will also be available for an on-call response for any problems with the installed system.

Task 4 - Data Collection and Presentation

The results of any flow monitoring project are only useful if they are understood. TFI takes special care to ensure that monthly, quarterly, and yearly flow reports consist of tables, graphs, and charts that accurately represent all aspects of a project’s findings.

Daily flow totals, min/max flows, maximum depth, total daily rain/intensities, base flows with rain-dependent inflow and infiltration separation are just some of the data points available for study from TFI.
Pipe flow capacities are also available.
